1 week and 1 day getting into the swing of this
This morning it felt like starvation rations again. There were 2 WW yoghurts today. Why do WW products make your mouth feel weird?
This evening I'm confused: I can't believe celeriac can be 0 points. 100g of celeriac +100g of potato = 1 point so +1 point of low fat cream cheese (hell why put in low fat spread in when it's just as pointy and tastes nasty) and it's 2 points and feels like I've had a big portion of potato.
Gym too - go me! sadly having dropped down 1kg I have another of them perverse incentives - you had to exercise harder to burn the same calories, or so it feels....

day 7= weigh day
2.5 lbs OH YES
can you guess how much weight I've lost this week?
Result! Wave my belly in the air like I don't care!
the cloud is that today is my last day on 19 points which will make getting those 2 thursday night pints harder.
I signed up to the monthly pass. I'm committed for at least a month then I figure if I keep it up 2 months will do the trick
Did I mention I lost 2.5lbs this week?

WW day 6
OOOH I feel full! I used my new smaller plate this evening (Asda special 4 place settings for £3 in nice white). Coucous, smoked salmon and some veggies are remarkably tasty and bulky for their point value. I'm going to be very sad tomorrow if I haven't lost 1-2lbs. This is a mission that I'm determined to succeed at, but that little boost would be good.

day 5
Hmm I have no idea how to point last nights dinner party. Ah well shall we just assume it was too many? That seems a safe bet! There were pre-dinner crisps afterall. I feel somewhat bulky today as if the previous 4 days weren't worth the effort. The offerings for the starter went down remarkably well.
Drinking Tonic water "with a lemon twist" also gave my mind the impression I was on G&T and avoided the sweetner headache I get normally. Sadly I have identified tonic disagrees with my stomach in the same way as the sweetners do. Soda water for ever it is then.
Today I have completed the somewhat depressing task of dividing some roast beef up into 2 point portions so that I have "sandwich" filling for lunches etc. I suppose the postive is the roast goes a lot further this way.
The scratchy throat and snuffle continues to escalate - I wonder how many points are in a throat lozenge?

day 4 of WW
Starter has now been made - humous (who knew Asda isn't cosmopolitan enough to stock Tahini. That'll teach me to deviate from my normal supermarket, but it's bad on saturdays.) made with olive oil - 10 points in total so that's 1 each (9 people for dinner). What appears to be on tasting pre-chilling it a fabulous cream cheese and cashew nut pate (it tastes stupidly rich, if only I'd known ground up nuts did that to cheese long ago). That's 17 in total so say 2 for me. and some mushrooms a la greque which role in at 2 points for the whole dish. Mmmm tasty, I think they will be made again just for me.... I got melba toast for those who want and crudites because I'm trying to be as accurate as I can with this mission...
Have very carefully divided up pork and chicken into portions and put them in the freezer - Does everyone behave this anally when starting WW I wonder? Even purchased a bunch of smaller size poormans-tupperware. Asda's latest super cheap plate/sideplate/bowl sets are £3 for 4 settings so I now have smaller main dish plates too, maybe I wont feel so underfed soon...

day 3 of minimum rations
Today's experiment was in how to point recipes. I crazily volunteered to bring pudding for 9 to a dinner party tomorrow night. Thankfully I'd not started working on what to do when I got the call asking me to bring starters instead. Thankfully 1 vegetarian is present so I have an excuse to do all vegetarian and it becomes a bit easier to keep the points down without seeming dull. roll up mushooms, cashew and creamcheese pate, home made hummus and I'll get some meat pate from the dele counter. If I skip the meat pate and only have 2 crispbreads of stuff I'll have a 2 point started. I can see tomorrow consisting much soup at breakfast and lunch though....
This morning I discovered I'd been counting too many points for my breakfast and evening milk - yay I find 3 points in the last 2 days which means that last nights beer didn't break the points bank. Someone said something about the 1st 2 weeks being the worst. I hope they are right!

day 2 in the house of no lard
Well day 2 I'm guessing I'm going to get a lot better at cooking without fat - that seems to be the way it works. I never realised just how much butter and oil I eat. Thankfully mushrooms simmered in stock actually taste nice - I always thought they had to be done in butter to be ay good. (and I eat a LOT of mushrooms)
WHY do PEAS have points? every other vegetable I've selected is nil point. Peas rice and tuna is not so bad in a fat free way so I could see it being a feature since they aren't loads of points (or not till you eat them in the quantities I thought was a portion!) . I got the impression that the WW lady didn't think I was a serious candidate - lets see if she mellows if I keep going back. Since I'm off for my weekly 2 pints now and I haven't actually saved up enough points to have them and will have to claim 1 back from tomorrow I can see a repremand is likely though...

Points mean food...
Day 1 on the WW points mean food diet. Having never done a formal diet before this is going to be a challenge but 1 year of trying to eat less and no resulting weight loss (although no more gain) means drastic times are here. So I went to the session last night and got the little book. No sign of exercise=extra points. I also have a nasty perverse incentive in that if I loose 1 lb I go under the 11 stone and therefore loose 1 point (ie food). If I sign up for the month next week I get more info and better access to the website. I see where £17 is heading. Ah well if this is as horrible as it is looking from this angle then I'll have the "I'm never doing that again" incentive to keep the lbs off.
One of the great things about WW is it still works in lbs. I have no idea what they mean so they are less scary. I've been on kg for weight since 2003. However if the 8kg go then they go and I'll be a happy camper. Since that's pretty close to the 10% goal (OK so 8kg out of 68 is slightly more than 10% but I can do crazy rounding).
I've made some more "tired vegetable soup" which clocks in at nil points so I can see me filling up on that a lot. The ww yoghurts don't seem so bad so i can see them being a staple too. I may even learn to love skimmed milk.... will keep you posted
