danger zone

Haven't been to the gym since Saturday. Yesterday i had 3.5 pints, today I had a hangover. Stomach hangover. Now i didn't actually go over the points for the week but I'm now no points in hand which is not a very good thing for this stage in the week. I think I'm hitting the start of the battle zone - people have been making nice comments, I'm over 1/2 way there and I need to keep it up and it's getting hard. Also I have a birthday in less than 3 weeks, how am I going to cope with the beer intake as I've committed to a boozy evening. Oh dear I've been more optomistic haven't I?

You can do the birthday, no problem. There are two approaches and I prefer a combination method. Approach one is to look at the long game and try to have an extra good week before and after, so if you lose 2 put on 1 lose 2 you've still lost 3lb in 3 weeks and that's brilliant.

Approach two is to be ruthless with the exercise points and try to bank the booze in advance or in catchup. It depends when your birthday falls in the week (vis-a-vis weighday) how easy this is, I always find it easier to motivate myself to earn the points in advance than to play catchup. Top tip! Take along something snacky & low point (I never could get into taking carrot sticks to the pub, but those WW crisps sorta do it) because there's nothing worse than the peanut stage of the evening for undoing all the good work.

I like a beer, and I'm not good at just having one, so I do this pretty much every week:-) A can of beer is 2.5pts here though, which is a real pain in the arse. But if I try to be extra good before a big night, the average still looks OK. It's when you've 3-4 big nights in consecutive weeks that it all goes to shit...
