friday not pie-day

The 17 points was lived with yesterday and I think I'll manage it today. I got a wonderful compliment from the weighing lady at the hospital (me being over a stone lighter than when I was last there and all) and she's a slimming world follower who is clearly not having a successful time with it. Then she complained about "too much choice" and I sort of lost sympathy - if you want a diet that actually tells you what to eat you really are barking up the wrong tree with the points based ones...
tomorrow I have 450 leaflets to deliver - will I count it as light or moderate exercise....

French WW has completely changed this week - they're altering the way points are calculated completely. Are there any signs of that happening in the UK?

New points are called ProPoints, and I've gone from 22/day to 29/day. There are lots of other things different about it, and I'm wondering if it's made it or will make it to the UK or not.

Hi - not heard anything about this, but will stay for the class this week (haven't the last couple) and ask afterwards if she doesn't say anything. If it aint broke why fix it says I!

Well there are various reasons why they change the WW formula pretty much once a year - research into diet and exercise is always progressing, for a start. However, the cynic in me says it's because the business case for being "fresh" and for having a new thing to advertise just in time for January is a strong one...

I've not quite got my head around the new plan yet - the materials are, after all, in French - but there are a few things I like about it. The weekly allowance formalises what I tended to do anyway, which is save up daily points for occasional boozy splurges; the fact that all fruit (bar avocados) is free now, and a real emphasis on the healthy living stuff. Up with protein and fibre, down with fat and simple carbs. As a long-term WWer, it's probably a good thing to shift the balance occasionally too so I don't end up eating the same things again and again and again.

And, yerno, free bananas.

I get the revamp of the plan I'm just not so sure about changing the points values all together. since I've only just bought the cookbook! But I've been cutting and keeping all the recipes that look interesting from the weekly leaflets. Aren't they going to alienate their old faithful? I guess they don't make enough money from maintainers to care about their loyalty.

No points bananas sounds very appealing though...

Here in frogland they're giving out points translators for existing cookbooks; not sure about the recipes though. The web stuff has been totally updated to the new diet look and the recipes there are all ProPoints stuff now. Apparently (I found out in the meeting) Belgium got it two weeks ago and Germany this week. So those on the forums here in France have known for two weeks, as there's a lot of crossover with the Belgian site. Learn something new every day, eh?

there's virtually nothing on the discussion boards here - just one thread re Switzerland that fizzles. But as I've barely used the website I may be missing something.
